"Narcos" star Boyd Holbrook is in negotiations to headline 20th Century Fox's new "Predator" movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Holbrook will replace Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, who was previously eyed to take the lead role before dropping out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Plot details are still kept under tight wraps, but director Shane Black previously said that the movie would be more of a sequel instead of a reboot.
He liked "the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology rather than hitting the restart button."
The helmer will also provide a treatment for the script which is written by his "Monster Squad" (1987) co-scribe Fred Dekker.
Production was expected to begin last month in Vancouver, but it was pushed back to February next year in order to accommodate Del Toro.
