Prime Minister, Narendra Modi unveiled the Roll On Trophy for the BRICS U-17 Football Tournament in an exclusive Ceremony held at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi .
The Tournament is scheduled to be held at Goa from the 5th to 15th October. An Initiative of the Indian Government, the Tournament aims at creating a fresh opportunity for exchange among the BRICS Nations, with the youth interacting on the field of sports. The Tournament will facilitate the nurturing of a lasting understanding, and friendship amongst the youth of these countries. It is likely to be a harbinger of similar exchanges in other sports disciplines too.
Mr. Vijay Goel, Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge), in his introductory remarks, said that the Trophy symbolizes the free and enterprising spirit of youth and the strength and commitment of the BRICS Nations towards solidarity in their global endeavors. The Tournament symbolizes the Nation’s commitment to ‘Sports for All’. Shri Goel spoke of the Prime Minister’s objective of taking football to every corner of the Country.
The Ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors of Brazil, Russia, and China and other senior dignitaries.
