Kajol is arguably one of the most gifted actors to have galvanised the silver screen. She is all set to return to the big screen, but not with veteran directors like Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty or Kunal Kohli.
Ship of Thesus-fame filmmaker Anand Gandhi has announced that his next film will star the effervescent actor in the lead role. He added that the film will be an adaption of one of his plays.
Gandhi has written and directed critically acclaimed plays like Sugandhi, Pratyancha, Kshanotsav, Na and Janashtaru, along with a Gujarati play Chal Reverse Ma Jaiye. Though he did not reveal the name of the play he is planning to adapt onto the big screen, he shared his excitement of working with the actress who has won the maximum number of Filmfare Awards in the Best Actress category.
“I am glad that a play I did many years ago has now been chosen to be made into a movie. I am excited about the fact that it will feature Kajol,” said Gandhi
Gandhi has confirmed that Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn has hopped on the project in the capacity of a producer and that he is happy to collaborate with the filmmaker-cum-actor. According to the same report, Gandhi will also write the screenplay of the film.
Kajol was last seen opposite long-time co-star Shah Rukh Khan in Rohit Shetty’s entertainer Dilwale. When she had appeared on The Anupam Kher Show, she maintained that she would not sign many films and agreed to star in Dilwale only because her daughter Nysa pushed her to.
We are glad that the actor has signed another film. It will be quite different to see her get directed by a fresh talent like Gandhi rather than any of the mainstream filmmakers.
