Saree-clad British PM visits temple in Bengaluru

Clad in a saree, British Prime Minister Theresa May visited the century-old Sri Someshwara Temple here on the final day of her three-day visit to India.
Taking time off her hectic engagements in the city, May accompanied by two priests went around the temple at Halasuru, donning a gold and green saree. She also offered prayer to the deity Lord Shiva.

May wound up here her three-day India to pave way for close commercial links with India after Brexit. The temple, which is the oldest temple in the city dating back to the Chola period, is located in the suburb of Halasuru.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Major additions or modifications were made during the late Vijayanagara Empire period under the rule of Hiriya Kempe Gowda II.
Earlier, May arrived at the Kempegowda International Airport and was received by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. She held an interaction with business delegates.
Thereafter, she visited a government primary school, a high-tech manufacturing unit that produces parts for global aircraft maker Airbus and also met SME business delegation.

She emplaned for London in her state aircraft 'Voyager' later in the evening.
