Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply today to the discussion on motion of thanks on President's address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.
Monday saw discussion taking place amidst din in Lok Sabha. There was fiery exchange of statements between the ruling party and the opposition over issues surrounding the passing away of veteran leader and MP E Ahamed.
The first day of the week saw both houses of Parliament transacting day-long business with some uproar. Both houses debated the motion of Thanks to President's address and discussion will continue on Tuesday as well.
Initiating the discussion on the Motion of Thanks in the Lok Sabha, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma highlighted the achievements of the government and accused the Congress for not honestly fulfilling the announcements in the past 70 years.
While the Congress raised questions over the Government's decision to go for demonetisation.
Rajya Sabha also saw a heated debate on the Motion of Thanks.
While the opposition, especially the Congress cornered the Government over demonetization and surgical strike.
The treasury side rejected the allegations of the opposition parties and said that the Government took the people of the country into confidence over several issues and the Government is implementing what it promised in its manifesto.
Reacting to opposition disrupting the proceedings of Parliament, the Government has said that it is not proper to politicise this issue.
However the House later on resumed its business with debate on the Motion of Thanks.
